Toolbox
Terms of Use
Last updated: October 22, 2026
These terms cover the Toolbox desktop application and this website. Toolbox is published by Maulik Sompura.
Software license
The Toolbox application and its source code are distributed under the MIT License. That license governs how you may use, copy, change and redistribute Toolbox, and nothing on this page limits it. If you install Toolbox from the Microsoft Store, the Microsoft Store terms also apply to your download.
Open-source components
Toolbox includes components from other projects, such as qpdf, Poppler and Tesseract, under their own licenses, including the GNU General Public License. The third-party notices, also shown in the app under Settings > About, list each component, its license and where to get its source code. Those licenses apply to those components.
Using Toolbox
Toolbox processes the files you choose on your own computer. Use it only on files you own or are allowed to change, and follow the law and any agreements that apply to them. Toolbox writes results to new files and does not change your originals, but keep backups of anything important. Check results, such as redactions, conversions and OCR text, before you rely on or share them. Review the Privacy Policy to learn what the app sends over the network.
No warranty
Toolbox is free software provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher and contributors are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from Toolbox or its use, including lost or damaged data. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and they do not affect rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
Website and third-party services
This website gives product information and links to downloads. GitHub hosts the website and the GitHub release downloads, and Microsoft runs the Microsoft Store. Those services, and any support or donation links, have their own terms and policies.
Changes and questions
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. Questions can be raised through the Toolbox GitHub issue tracker.
